LT1002 138 Posted July 27, 2012 OH EMM GEE.... I can't believe this !! Being in a support group doesn't mean being agreeable to everything someone says... It wouldn't be right for a group member to sit here and watch LT sabotage if we can help it- getting this weight off is hard' date=' but it's the common denominator- we are all in this together !! Am I my brothers keeper ??? Yes I am!! And that means sometimes I'm gonna tell him something he does not want to hear- take it a grain of salt and keep kickin- of you don't agree, well agree to disagree. There is no need to insult one another - I'mDisapponited.[/quote'] I'm not sabotaging anything. Sabotaging would be sitting here miserable, not finding these minor comforts, and then losing it to the point of doing something crazy and dangerous, like eating something that would cause a leak. The mental benefits I got from drinking flat, watered down, caffeine free Diet Coke far outweighed any physical risks. While I appreciate the sentiment that we're all in this together, I didn't come here for a babysitter. This isn't a 12 step program and everyone is each other's sponsor. I came here for information, and I find reading others' accounts of their journeys interesting. That's all. I don't need a keeper. 3 sassypants, Sleeved&Hopeful and Pat Z reacted to this
lessofmeismore 1,405 Posted July 27, 2012 Confession- I took a SIP of my daughters diet Dr. Pepper while we were out to eat. Oohhh man it was heaven!! I just let the bubbles touch my tongue and that was it! I smiled like crazy, it was so funny to see lol. I think that moment of funny happiness was well worth it. It didn't make me need/want it any more or less. It was just a teaser for my mouth and it was perfect! Feel free to spank me now

soccermomx2 111 Posted July 27, 2012 I was a BIG diet wild cherry pepsi drinker. Couldn't get my day going without it. I had it up until my 24 hr Clear liquids before surgery. Strange thing is after surgery I haven't needed (yet). Not sure if the craving will come back. My dr recommendation is 6 mths. I totally understand being the same amount of days post op as you. I feel kind of like I'm living outside of my body. We wouldn't be human if we didn't try to make some normalcy out of this experience. Everyone has had different pre op diets, post op diets, NUT and surgeon recommendations. It would be hard for me to comment on specific do's and don'ts. I see such a broad spectrum of what everyone can and can't do. I have to say I am secretly wishing to get to past the liquids stage . I like this site for the comments, opinions (good or bad) and seeing everyone's journey. In the end I think the OP was merely sharing a moment where they felt "normal". This experience admittedly is difficult on everyone that heads down this path. We all are aiming for the same thing...to extend our lives and strive to be healthier! 4 Mommy2three, lessofmeismore, LT1002 and 1 other reacted to this

mylifeinpink 349 Posted July 27, 2012 I figured this is a new healthy lifestyle for me and the chemicals in diet coke don't mix with that. So I've given it up completely. A side effect of that? My teeth look FABULOUS! I could not agree with you MORE! No room for crap in my lifestyle Amy longer! If I'm going healthy- I'm going 100%!!! 1 buffalogal reacted to this
mylifeinpink 349 Posted July 27, 2012 Adult' date=' professional, three degrees, & still haven't figured out that if you post on a public forum, you are likely to get responses? Even a few that you don't want to hear. I'm guessing that you don't actually make into a courtroom very often if a post on a public forum gets you this bent out of shape.[/quote'] Lmao! Love it! 2 MinaT and HalfTheWoman reacted to this
mylifeinpink 349 Posted July 27, 2012 I was a diet coke-a-holic of the worst kind. I don't even come close to missing it now. Sodas don't exist anymore. That stuff will rot the guts right out of you! Our itty bitty stomachs must be protected! Now there's a SMART girl! 1 mrsflyboybs reacted to this
lessofmeismore 1,405 Posted July 27, 2012 Well if only we had all this conviction and smart thinking while putting tons of crap in our bodies and becoming obese. Yay for our new tool! Here's to everyone's successes and all the ups, downs, and in betweens we face every day 4 mrsflyboybs, buffalogal, mylifeinpink and 1 other reacted to this

JenniJune 79 Posted July 27, 2012 Here's the thing: We are not all going to agree with each other, period. That's the beauty of being human - we all have our own thoughts, beliefs and realities. If your surgeon said it was okay, then good for you! I miss my diet coke like crazy, myself. But please remember that not everyone is going to think it's okay because of their own personal thoughts, beliefs, and realities (as stated above). Just ignore the posts you don't like and acknowledge the ones you do. As for me and my DC addiction, I quit long before surgery because my family and I are transitioning to a natural foods lifestyle. This was a personal choice. After reading some of the ingredients that go into diet drinks and sugar substitutes, I was so scared about what I was putting into my body that I chose to get rid of it for good. Good luck on your journey!
MinaT 669 Posted July 27, 2012 I wasn't mean and I wasn't rude, you posted you drank diet coke 9 days out from surgery. Not 9 weeks, 9 days out, good luck to you. If you end up with a leak, or posting in 2 weeks about the stall I'll try to remember not to offer any advice, whether or not it's asked for. 3 mrsflyboybs, unknown54678997 and msvickee reacted to this
msvickee 212 Posted July 27, 2012 As much as I love and miss my drink of choice (orange Fanta) I just can't do it. I can't sabotage my progress and certainly not my 1 month old sleeve not to mention my sexy curves that I'm starting to see! That Fanta is so not worth it. Nevertheless, folks, if you post something on here expect a response whether it's for what you wrote or against what you wrote, and that's the "skinny" on that! Gotta go look at myself in the mirror! shelly77 20 Posted July 27, 2012 I was a diet coke freak before my surgery. I would go to Sonic in the morning before work and again after work, both for the Route 44, and in between those times would fill my empty cups with more Diet Coke. I knew having this surgery would break me of my addiction, and I'm thankful it did. I have been putting so much garbage in my stomach. After this surgery and everything I've been through these past 9 days, I do not plan on putting it back in my system. I'm not saying I will never have another diet coke, but it will not be my first drink of choice anymore. This has been a difficult addiction for me to break, but I've made it 10 days without. I'm hoping and praying for a healthier me, and I hope that's why everyone else is on here, too. It's hard, and we need to help each other the best we can. 1 ohsheila reacted to this
