I didn't ask her about carbs and fat but we should find out right? She's in the office on Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays and she usually gets back to you as soon as possible after you email her. I also told her I was tracking using my fitness pal and I added her as a friend and she was able to go in and see what I was eating instead of me having to tell her all over again which was nice. It made getting help easier for both of us.

OK I logged onto my fitness pal via computer and went to settings and added it under meal names. I also put Water there so I can use the measurement of ounces instead of cups

You know that is great that you want to be my friends on my fitness pal because I was looking for some accountability and just knowing that you guys are seeing what I enter and how I track my food makes me accountable thank you.

Me too! I know I don't do this thing the 'perfect' way (carbs are my everything!)... but it's nice to see other's meals to give me some ideas. I always had my meals locked down but that was when I was embarrassed of my 2000+cals/day, lol... now I have some better accountability it's not hard to share. :)

I'm going to get the Vitamins added to mine too. It's not hard for me to remember my Vitamins because they're part of my nightly pill routine but I like having it visible for the NUT when/if she can see it on MFP.

For Water, I actually don't typically put my Water in MFP just because I use a different app that reminds me when to drink and is kind of fun. I really like it. You can set your goal by oz and you can set how many/when/oz reminders to keep you on goal for drinking during the day. It's called Hydro Coach.

Yeah my Vitamins came up just like food too But being a bit ocd I had to have my own little space for them.

hydro coach I couldn't find it in the App Store. Do you use Apple?

Do either of you watch YouTube videos of people that have had vsg surgery? I have found them so helpful.

I did watch a couple YouTube videos...nothing that stood out though.

I'm an Samsung/Android gal... so I bet HydroCoach isn't on Apple. Darnit. :(
Totally get ya on the OCD thing with the vitamins... I wouldn't add them if I couldn't put them in their own category either. LOL

How do u guys add oz to my fitness pal I looked last night and couldn't figure it out. I'm having a hard time tracking my stuff. I'm pretty sure I'm not getting enough calories but I still can't eat more then like 2 oz at a time.

Cole225 - I think tacha explained it above. You have to not do it in the Water section but actually add water as a food.< /p>

I have to say putting my horrible food in MFP today definitely had me embarrassed since I have viewers...it's been a horrible day for me... a work party where the cafeteria was closed and not any good choices for me & I'm about to go to a wedding. Ugh....tomorrow will be better! :/

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
