I had surgery on May 9th; now I'm bored with most foods. No desire to eat the stuff I liked before. I'm down 60 lbs and feeling great. BUT, I can't eat the fruits & veggies that are plentiful right now and I used to love them! It's a little depressing. I have to eat my Protein first & can't fit in the other stuff.

When will I be able to eat a "normal" meal?

I blend whatever fruits or veggies I desire. For instance I will blend strawberries or raspberries into my dinner Protein shake.

I will cook my veggies down and blend into a high Protein chicken Soup (homemade).

If I want veggies with my chicken or fish I will eat 2oz of chicken or fish and 1 oz of a veggie. But 3oz if I'm omitting the veggie. Just learned to make this modification this week.

I was sleeved June 28 and down 32 but total of 49 since pre-op diet.

I really don't like most Protein Shakes. After my surgery, my taste buds changed. The only Protein Drink I like is, gatorade recover3 orange/tropical. I haven't found a powder I like yet. And I goofed, I had surgery April 9th, not may 9th. I lost 61 lbs, then this week I have gained 2 lbs! I am walking everyday, probably more than I every have. What is up with that?

Have you tried EAS Protein Shakes? They're ready made and they are sold at Walmart / target. This are really the only ones I'll drink, once in a while I'll blend a banana in there and it's soo good. I do buy a small fruit cup everyday at work and that's what I snack on throughout the day. Maybe you could allow one of your Snacks to be fruit. I also do eat veggies with my meal. I just feel its unrealistic for me to only eat meat. I always get the green giant frozen broccoli in cheese sauce. The 4 pack comes is perfect sleeve size containers and they're only 40 calories.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
