Sleeved 6/26, Dad Passed 7/21 And Laid Off From Job 7/26....

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on June 26 and everything went extremely well. No nausea, no problem getting my Water or Protein in. Then BOOM! Coming up on four weeks out my whole world got turned upside down. I am so stressed out that I know it cannot be good for me. I just had surgery and am going to lose my insurance? Am really scared of the fact I will have no insurance to cover post op care. Devasted......

Oh how horrible. sending a big hug and will keep you in my prayers. Stay strong. Remember when one door closes another will open. I don't have any aftercare up here and are managing okay with the advice of my good friends on the site. You will too! Everything will work out. So sorry to hear of your losses. You have been given a full load but stay strong as you sound like a strong person. I am here for you.

I lost everything on my site here so I am not a newbie. I had over 160 posts and conversations but lost them all. Alex has me set up again lol. Just wanted you to know.

At this point I wouldn't stress too much about aftercare, especially if you are having no problems. I only saw my Dr at 6 days and three weeks post op. I'm only supposed to check in if I'm having problems now.

I'm so sorry about your dad, and your job. Praying things get better for you

Check with your doctors office because some of the follow up care should be covered under what they call a global period. It is the care right after surgery and should cover your post op visits. Best wishes!

So sorry for your loss. I lost my dad 3 weeks after I was sleeved. I will say that the sleeve saved me from emotional eating. I was sleeved in Mexico with no complications. I only had blood work done 4 months post-op. Hopefully you will have another job/insurance in place by then. I am praying that you will be fine. *hugs*

I CAN APPRECIATE WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH. AND I WISH YOU WELL.I WAS SLEEVED 12-8-10. MY MOM DIED SUDDENLY ON 12-19-10. SHE WAS MY ROCK.THEN CHRISTMAS. HAD MANY CRAVINGS FOR COMFORT food. GAVE IN TO A COUPLE. IMMEDIATE DUMPING AND PAIN. THE CRAVING PASSED. WITH MY SISTER'S SUPPORT. WE MADE IT THROUGH AND I WAS SOON BACK ON TRACK. AS FAR AS FOLLOW UP CHECK WITH YOUR PROGRAM. MY DOC TOLD ME I HAD ACCESS TO THE NUTRITIONIST AS LONG AS I NEEDED. AND WE HAVE A MONTHLY SUPPORT GROUP MEETING WHICH IS FREE INCLUDING PARKING. I WOULD THINK POST OP VISITS WOULD BE INCLUDED OR YOUR DOC MIGHT NOT CHARGE BASED ON YOUR SITUATION. AND THERE IS ALWAYS THIS SITE FOR SUPPORT. PERHAPS WE SHOULD START ON OFF GROUP FOR THOSE WHO LOST THEIR SUPPORT PERSON?

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
