Hello all, I have hit my first stall 5 weeks post-op. I lost 305 lbs from 333lbs from my surgery weight on 6/19, then the scale bounces up and down. My highest weight is 365 lbs. My surgeon says that 800 calories is adequate. Despite exercise and eating right I seem stuck. Advise and experiences are encouraged.

Thanks,

I hit a stall around 3.5 weeks post-op (like many on this site speak about). I kept my calories between 500 and 600/day (I'm still on liquids due to some minor complications), but added Water aerobics to my daily exercise plan. For the past four days I've been walking 30 minutes, then doing an hour of water aerobics in the morning. In the evening I go back for a second hour of water aerobics. Since adding the water classes I've lost 5 pounds (in four days), and am feeling great. Find something to change up, or add to, your daily exercise plan, and just stick to it....the weight will start to drop again, once your body acclimates to the rapid weight loss. Best of luck to you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
