Has anyone tried the Unjury chicken broth flavor? No offense to the company (because I plan to buy the unflavored Protein powder) but that had to be the most God awful stench ever. I smelled it and gagged. So I thought "well I'm always such a picky eater" so I had my coworker smell it. She gagged. Wondering what other's opinions are and other suggestions? I don't want to get sick of the Protein Shakes (so far is all I like). I do plan to use the unflavored to add to sf Jello etc though...

So that's different than the chicken broth? I can't imagine it would be much different. I have too picky of taste buds I guess. Blech

I loved the chicken broth - it was such a great savory change from all the sweet flavored Protein. I would have never made it through the first couple of weeks after surgery without it.

I thought it tasted amazing! I didn't really smell it though. I agree that it was a nice change from sweet drinks.< /p>

I gagged too! Was so glad it was just a sample pack from my doctors office.

I think we all have to adjust our tastebuds for this journey. Protein in drinks does taste different, it is not Campbell's Soup by any means. It is one of the things we are allowed to have before and directly after our surgery to give some good nutrition to our bodies as they heal. It is just for a short time and then we will be having our yummy creamed Soups again. I am thankful that it is only for 2-3 weeks!

Have you tried making it with chicken broth instead of Water? I tried it, and like it was said earlier, it didn't taste like Campbell's, but it wasn't aweful. I also found some Swanson's concentrated flavor packets to add a little to as well to bump up the flavor a little. Work with the flavoring by adding spices, etc. to see if you can get it to your liking.

Other brands of the Protein chicken Soups I like and used a lot right after surgery - when my tub of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury arrived and I opened the cannister I just about fell over it smelled so bad - someone here compared another products smell to "my old hamster cage" when she was a kid - omg that cracked me up, but that is exactly what that stuff reminded me of, nasty smell :)

I am the queen of giving away the Protein stuff I no longer like or can no longer tolerate at my support group meetings - I had not one taker on the French vanilla flavored Bariatric Advantage Vitamins though lol - just got a room full of sourpuss faces, I think it is a universal yuck on that flavor :)

I used these and still like them. When I could have full liquids I strained the veggies and noodles out and they were satisfying with no hamster cage smell - not as much protein as the Unjury, but a compromise I made.

I finally opened my chicken Unjury yesterday, had put it off after reading all these postings. I did not think it smelled bad and I mixed it first with 1/4 cup cold Water then added hot water and it was not lumpy at all. I really enjoyed the flavor and the warmth. Just shows that everyone has different tastes and we have to try things out for ourselves to see what we like and what we don't. I still have not braved the Isopure test, maybe today!

I add the chicken Soup flavor to mashed potatoes and other types of food so I can't even taste it.

The Bariatric vanilla Vitamins suck. I am stuck with them.

I couldn't do it either. That smell killed me and I tried both the chicken Soup and the broth. I did better taking the unflavored powder and adding it to swansons chicken broth. Using the unflavored Protein in anything and everything you can think of will help. I got tired of sweet Protein Shakes so I started making veggie shakes and tossing that in there. After my surgery I lived on protein shakes, Jello, and these Soups from Whole Foods (blended to liquid) because I didn't figure out the broth trick until about 5 weeks post surgery. You'll get creative with what you can do and you can always get ideas from here :D

I like the idea of adding unflavored to chicken broth. I think that will be the plan for me. Thank u :-)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
