If Implanon seems too much of a commitment there is Depo Provera that uses the same hormones and delivery method for 3 months. I have been on it for 4 years, no period and no problems.

Same potential problems that Implanon has too.

I personally am switching to Implanon just because I don't plan on having kids anytime soon.

I cannot warn you away from Mirena fast enough. Great for 18 months, no period at all, just 30 lbs of weight gain IMMEDIATELY. Nothing else changed. Then the spotting started and continued constantly for two years. Yes ladies years. And to top it off even though insurance covered putting it in I had to pay $300 to get it out. I realized within minutes of having it removed that the horrible abdominal pressure i had been living with was gone. It is great birth control though because you sure never want to have sex!

I agree 100% I had one- sex drive went to zero! I have the copper iud now- we'll see how it goes!

I had the paragaurd IUD {copper non hormonal} worked great for the first 2 years then after that horrible cramps and heavy cycles. I was even precribed to take motrin 600 3-4x a day three days prior to my cycle and during~ It was horrible~ My sex drive did decrease in a major way when I had it~ I had it removed and it looked like my body deflated!~ Still no real weight loss though~// <_< .My sex drive did increase immediately when I had it removed! B) B) ..Anywho I'm BC free at the moment but need something strong for when Hubby comes home and after my surgery~ I am leaning towards the good ol PILL especially since Hubby & I are looking to have our first Bambino once I'm cleared following the surgery but not sure yet~

T~

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
