Thickiest2Thick 38 Posted August 10, 2012 So I just joined this Forum and I'm loving the informative real to life topics..But can anyone tell me if you've had pre surgery doubts and pre surgery excitement at the same time? Ever since my initial appointment a few weeks ago' date=' I've been thinking about this surgery 24-7 and I don't even have a surgery date or approval from my insurance co!! My BMI is over 40. So, basically , I'm a shoe-in! I'm half way done with my required tests that are needed (bloodwork, sleep study, 5 year weight history). Still waiting on psych eval and ekg to get scheduled. My dilema is, Half of the time I'm scared that something will go wrong during surgery and I will never get to see my kids again and the other half of the time I can't wait to get this over with so I can be healthy and thinner! Its insane this emotional thought process of a roller coaster. I just want this to be done and over with so I can get on with my life. I don't want to be at the hands of an insurance co to decide whether or not they will pay for it. I don't want to be at the hands of a dr that can seriously screw up and F my life up. But I do want to be healthier, more confident and be here longer to spend with my children...I'm all over the place..someone, anyone, please tell me this is normal?? [/quote'] I can completely understand your fears...it was like the closer my date came the more movies I started to see where someone dies from surgery...or the birth control commercials talking about blood clots....I was sleeved on Monday....n as soon as u r rolled in..for u the surgery seems as if it was only 5 mins. Its normal to have those fears...but trust everything will b OK...n you will b happy u went thru with it.....good luck!!!
shellbell125 41 Posted August 11, 2012 Oakcliffmom, you hit the nail on the head. The nerves come from the fact that it is an elective surgery at least that what others will see. It's kind of like "well you did this to yourself". However, for us it's not elective, it's life and death. BUt then, what if we fail? What if we don't lose all this weight? What if all the people on this forum are the success stories? I've tried googling other stories but they mainly seem good which is the only reason I'm still in the process of doing this surgery. Sunnybyrd 5 Posted August 12, 2012 I am 10 days out and I am so happy that all those fears r behind me! I am doing great and have not thrown up 1 time. Pain is gone! Bowels are moving and not diarhea. I eat every 3 hours about 5 or 7 teaspoons. I am down to 195. lost 11 lbs since surgery and I am not hungry! My diabetes is gone and my blood pressures are low. I believe I will be off that med next week. I went to the flea market today and walked a few miles. It is really nice out. Not to hot. All my doubts and fears are out the window. I should have done this sooner. I love that I feel full. I am eating full liquids, which includes creamed Soups. One can of Soup will be 4 meals! If you have any doubts, speak with your surgeon. The surgeon will explain your fears away. Look at all the pro's. The surgery is safer than getting your gall bladder out! NO REGRETS HERE! Susan
