Hello everyone,

This is my first post on here so I thought I would introduce myself. It seems like my journey has been a lifetime ... I have struggled with my weight all my life. Lose some re-gain even more than I lost... I have done every diet known to mankind with the last attempt doing the Optifast diet... and as usual, no weight loss. So I started researching wls.... had my initial consultation on July 14th and with help from Dr. Nunn at Barix Clinics decided to go with the sleeve. Surgery is set for October 31st... I'm so excited to get this done... the thought of actually being healthy is so exciting! Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Cora

Hi

I'm a newbie today too. My name is Dawn and I live in North Carolina. It is great to be able to hear from others all the same and crazy things that I am feeling and going through. I have only told 4 people I'm not sure if I should be ashamed or excited. I just received my approval letter this week so I am waiting for a date, I have to say this insurance process went a lot faster than I thought it would.

I look forward to hearing all your stories, successes and tips. I'll be 50 in April and I want to tuen it as a new me! Thanks for listening

I haven't told anyone except my husband and 2 children.... but only because of not wanting to be judged. Good luck on your journey, keep me posted... we can do this !! Again welcome and God Bless

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
