I am losing way fast, but it is tapering.

I also ate like a pig during my last three days of food, so I had packed on a few extra false pounds that came off the second I hit that pre-op liquid diet.

I was losing right at a pound per day, and that is likely too much. I was carefully watching my calories, Protein, Water, etc. It is getting less now. But as I get lighter I am working out more and so I an keeping the weight loss pretty high. In the first month I was down about 28 pounds. I am currently 2 days short of 7 weeks (1 week liquid diet and 6 weeks post op) and I am down about 42 pounds.

But every bit as important - I am losing inches. I need to re-measure, but at my widest point (bellyroll) I am down 9 inches from my highest.

But I think I am very atypical. It should be a good bit slower than that. I have seen others on here that have lost at my rate or faster, but the more common loss rate is slower. remember to not let anyone else's experience get you down if you are losing at a slower rate. It is a journey -

Men generally lose faster than woman, people with more body weight typically lose faster at the beginning also because they have more Water weight to lose.

Most people do not lose 1 pound a day. There will be days you lose 2 pounds and you will stay the same a few days and lose a pound and 1/2 pound the next day.

Everyone loses at a different weight. For example, someone had surgery the same day as me, we weighed the same, we are the same height, she is, I believe 10 pounds less than me now. I am working out 3 times a day, with weights. Though we are the same height, our body is proportioned much differently. I am gaining a lot of muscle weight, which makes losing weight slower at first. Eventually my muscles will speed up metabolism a bit.

I also was in a stall and I wasn't getting enough calories in and upped those a little bit and I started losing again.

Focus on not gaining weight between now and surgery and you are probably getting close to starting pre-op shake, my best advice is don't overeat the day before you start the pre-op diet, or it will make it tougher. Focus on getting through before surgery and after surgery will take care of itself.

Best of luck to you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
