I had surgery 6/29 and I did the Atkins diet for 2 weeks for my pre op diet (liver shrinking diet). I lost 19 lbs in that short amount of time! I couldn't believe it! You got this girl!

Did you exercise as well?

Whew, I'm glad today is almost over, I've been starving all day. I know day 3 would be bad from doing the HCG diet, but my tummy has been growling like crazy! Only 6 more days to go. 0_o

This is the first time I have heart HCG mentioned on the boards.....so you did it too? I did and lost almost 90 lbs in 7 months and I seriously was the guru in town, I led a support group and convinced about 10 of my friends and church members to do it with me. Talk about looking like a FOOOOOOL when I went into hiding for a while because I was gaining and then seeing these people in public after gaining the 90 back plus 20 in a year. Woah...can you say reality check. Me and my body do not work with crash, extreme diets....thank God for the sleeve!

My husband and I did HCG last summer, lost weight well but all of mine is back. Hubby did not gain all of his weight back but some. He wants to do it again after I have my surgery. It is not hard to stick to but it is hard to maintain.

I did the exact same thing. Drank my 3rd cup of broth and went to bed at 8:15. Remember to take your B12, I forgot mine and I really felt sluggish. Today is a new day, LET'S DO THIS!

No, I actually did not exercise during my preop. I had so much to do during the 2 week pre op with getting ready for surgery, taking care of family stuff, and taking care of business stuff, I simply had a hard time fitting it in.

Morning of Day 3...don't feel quite as bad as I thought I would, but the day is still getting off to a start. I do kettlebell classes, and I was concerned that with the change in calories and diet, I would lose momentum, but so far, so good. We'll see how long that lasts. I've been told by one of my doctors that after surgery I have to take at least a month off from core work, so no kettlebell for awhile. The upside is that I will able to do general cardio, so I can make keep on some sort of routine.

Loving my countdown app!! I'll be even happier when it hits the single digit numbers!!

Glad you like the app! I LOVE it as well, I was looking for something more like a ticker which I didn't find but choose this one as the next best. I am up past midnight most nights so i love looking at the app when it has changed.

I don't remember being advised to take B12 prior to surgery, doesn't mean I wasnt though !

I bought Atkins shakes the night before and did not like them! After work yesterday I went to the Vitamin Shoppe and got some samples and their most recommended one, Syntha-6 in chocolate, I LOVE IT! I don't usually care for chocolate drinks but this one is good. They did not have any samples so I had to buy the big bucket of it but I was ok with this seeing they will let you exchange it if you don't like it.

I do have moments when I start having cravings and miss having something crunch or something to actually chew, sugar free popsicles have been a life saver for me. Whenever I get tired of only having liquids I go get a Popsicle or two and then I am satisfied. :)

Hey skboone1. My dietician said that I should strive for 80-100 grams of Protein and 600-800 calories per day during my 2 week pre-op diet. So, I'm drinking a lot of Protein shakes. I like the smoothie king gladiator with no fruit.< /p>

thanks for sharing, I'm gonna try. I don't know how this is possible and how everyone is doing it I seem so weak lol

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
