Going to mexico!!

The crazy thing is, I have never even considered going for surgery.

But something in me changed. I think mostly i am just fed up.

I was paying cash for my surgery where i live. Not only is it 3 times the cost of going to Mexico,

But I also paid 2k out of pocket for testing. Then when I had a date, i was so excited and then got a call that

I needed to be rescheduled for a month later. I had worked my butt off to jump through every hoop (not insurance company hoops)

I was heart broken. So, after reading through hundreds of posts on here, my husband and i sat down and made a decision.....Mexico!

I got in touch with Dr.Kelly yesterday and by the end of the day I had a surgery date, flights, everything!

I feel so at peace with my decision.

So now I have questions.......What is the area like? Did people go with you? Did you like the hospital/hotel? Did you feel safe?

I can't help you with your questions. but just wanted to say good for you for taking charge of the situation and making the decision. I sometimes wish I could, but I have to wait out the insurance scheme.

My surgery is with Dr. Kelly tomorrow. They pick me up at 10 a.m. I'll post as much information as I can during the process.

I was sleeved by dr k June 14th. The hospital is great, the people are great and the hotel is beautiful! Any questions you have don't hesitate to ask Omar or Cece, that's what they are there for and they are happy to help!!

Message me if you have any questions! Happy to help!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
