I have heard a lot of you talk about this... I'm now a little intrigued. Reviews? Hate it? Love it? Worth the money? I have a body bug which is an arm strap and a watch that gives me up to dates and was $400.00. It's just always having to wear an arm strap. I bought it when they were big on The Biggest Loser and after I got my crap band. So I am unsure as to what I want to use!! Advice?

I bought a fitbit at the beginning of starting the Calgary Weight Management Program. We needed a simple pedometer but I wanted something that would track my sleep as well. It was a little over 100 dollars but I used it everyday and I liked that it kept track of everything for me, that I could go back and look at months later if I wanted to.

I have noticed that I have not used it at all since I got the surgery 2 weeks ago. If you think you will use it everyday then it is worth it.

I use my Fit Bit every single day/night. I barely take mine off. It tracks my steps, my sleep, my activity levels over the course of a day and I find that it inspires me to want to do more, just to earn badges.

I think it's the best $100 I ever spent. I use it in conjunction with MFP to track my food intake, weight goals, and exercise goals. I bought it around six or seven months out from surgery, just when I hit that dreaded slowdown of weight loss. I'm still losing fairly slowly as far as the scale goes, but I'm losing sizes, which is more important, IMO.

In my opinion, Fit Bit has the best customer service of almost any company I've ever dealt with. My original Fit Bit stopped displaying or tracking after a couple of months. I emailed their customer service department, expecting to get blown off. Instead, they contacted me with several suggestions for resetting the Fit Bit. When those didn't work, I emailed them back, and they replaced my Fit Bit within a week! I am totally impressed with them!

I know nothing about the Body Bug, but the Fit Bit is easy to wear, doesn't require an arm strap, and has great customer service. I'm sold on Fit Bit. :)

Can someone tell me what MFP is?

MFP=My Fitness Pal. It's an online or phone application that you can use to track food and exercise. It's free and doesn't require any monthly fees. FitBit's online app doesn't require any fees either.

I just got a FitBit and I love it. It is tiny and easy to wear all the time and it keeps track of everything! It does the same thing for me that it does for Lissa...keeps me motivated to do more. I think it is well worth the $100.

I love my fitbit. I paid for one year if the premium membership. I won't do that again. And I don't like that I can't see how many calories I burned during my walk. I know that I can go on the dashboard and see how many calories I burned on that little graph, but I think that's in 5 minute interments. Annoying!

But...I do love my fitbit. It's very motivational. And I love that I don't have to do anything to get my calories burned onto mfp.

I absolutely love my Fitbit, it is so worth the money. I find myself looking at it all the time and it keeps me motivated to move, move, and move some more. I wear mine on my bra, front and center, so no one even knows it is there, which I like.

If you set the timer when you start your walk, and then stop it when it is over, on the track exercise page it will tell you exactly how many calories you burned, how far you went, pace, etc. It gives it to you in interments and overall.

I was thinking about getting a Fitbit because I'm not sure if my Gazelle displays are accurate. Thanks for all the valuable info :)

I also bought a body bug thru costco & paid $249, which included a Year's subscription to their site & you can download reports. Here are the things I like:

-long battery life

- great readout on your sleep cycle

Things I don't like:

-Customer service is sporadic

-You have to use their food database & it is horrible!

-The armband is bulky & shows under your clothes

-Monthly fee after your free subscription is up is $6.99 a month

I also used an Omron pedometer that was better, cheaper & interfaces with their b/p cuff. The reports from those two are both free & I could take them to my doctor. He loved seeing that. Unfortunately, I really like the sleep monitoring feature so may have to buy a FitBit because I am a huge fan of My Fitness Pal.

What about the biggest loser slim coach? Anyone try that? I don't want to spend the extra $ when I have no problem (besides the bulkyness) with the body bug. What to do?!? What to do?!?!?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
