What Are People Drinking On High Protein Full Liquids/pureed Stage

Recommended Posts

My nutritionist told me to look for Protein Shakes that we're high in Protein and very low in carbs and sugar. The shake I chose has a full 60 grams of protein in it and only 1 gram of sugar and 5 grams of carbs. I take that in the morning and then the rest of the day I have broth or sugar free Jello, apple sauce, things like that but only at "meal times". And then of course fill up on my Water intake too! It's a lot to fit it all in but that high Protein Shake is way easier than having to drink 3 separate shakes a day for same protein amount!

What kind of Protein Shake do you get LexFl? What is the serving size and how does it taste?

It's called Pro Complex. 2 scoops of Protein Powder for 8-12 oz of Water or skim/1% milk. I got the rich milk chocolate flavor. It tastes a good deal like chocolate milk but not sickeningly sweet like some shakes were. And not chalky at all. Definitely the best tasting of all the ones I tried leading up to this one

I wonder why? Most licensed nutritionists recommend it because you can use fresh milk/soymilk/rice milk/ lactose free milk. Its easier on the digestive system than most Protein drinks. I wonder what evidence he has that it is bad? Just wondering.

I'm still going to try it though after hearing other people bc I'm having a hard time getting Protein in. What flavor is good ladies?

Part of my post op diet is drinking 1 cup of carnation instant breakfast in between my "meals". I get the chocolate. Its not too bad but I find it very filling.

I love the strawberry flavor. If you have king soopers they sell the variety pack. Most stores will order it for you. Good luck that stage is the hardest.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
