Pain On Right Side Lower Back

Recommended Posts

About 2 weeks post op and feel a sharp pain on the right side of my lower back. It's not intolerable but usually right after I get out of bed. Anyone else experienced this and addressed it with their surgeon?

Thanks

My lower back started hurting when I became dehydrated. Could that be the issue?

Hmmm possibly. Although I do stay pretty hydrated. I was reading on obesityhelp someone else said they experienced it and the doctor told them it was due to weight loss because the body is adjusting to the shedding weight. Maybe that's it? I'm not sure

The weight loss excuse sounds pretty hokey to me, I never had it as a direct result of weight loss.

Sounds like kidney pain, I did have THAT and it is typically caused by the formation of kidney stones, excessive Calcium and dehydration are the cause amongst other things. I had 3 bouts of them, the last caused me to urinate so much blood I went to the ER, my urine was bright red, surprisingly I had little pain that time.

Start drinking a LOT more Water, maybe DOUBLE what you're drinking now. PLEASE see the doc to make sure, he may take a urine sample to check for UTI and prescribe antibiotics.

I had this. I was diagnosed with chest wall syndrome. It's basically a waking up of the nerves surrounding the area that was messed with after a major surgery. Usually happens to open heart patients but can happen and is common in other major surgeries as well. Mine was severe. Excruciating but went away very quickly. Take Tylenol and don't overdo it.
