1 Week To Go Nerves

Recommended Posts

GGAAAAHHHH 1 week to go! I am starting to double think and re affirm then second guess. I am definatly going to do it I guess i just scared about all the pain. I am BAD with pain, I don't winge a lot... I really try not to! I am focusing on that and it's freaking me out. Is the pain after that bad?

Everybody is different, of course, but I had very little pain after surgery - would do it again in a heartbeat! :D

I also had very little pain. In fact, it was so minor that I had to confirm with the nurse that the doctor actually did the surgery and didn't just close me back up after going in.

Hi ya

Just to say dont worry yourself about the pain - it is bearable and doesnt last very long. I wasnt written up for painkilling meds in the end and managed to cope so you will be fine.

And anyway, nothing is as painful as the constant feeling of being overweight hey? And that will soon be a thing of the past.

I would have my op 20 times over to feel as good as I do today so hope that goes some way to reassure you that its not all bad.

Wishing you lots of luck - it really will be the best thing you ever did.

Kellie x

The pain wasnt the problem for me....It was the nausea!!! I wouldnt wish that on my worst enemy. I had to take emend (anti nausea med) the morning of surgery and I had a patch behind my ear. None of that worked and the nurses were giving me two more meds hourly to help relieve it. Personally I would've rather dealt with pain instead.

My pain was bad the first day. I think it was primarily gas. After the first 18 hours, I was golden. Hardly any pain issues.

I know...... I have one week left also my surgery date is July 31. My wife was sleeved July 10th and she has done great. She has really gave me alot of confidence because she has done so well. She is down 25 lbs in two weeks and has not complained about pain 1 time. But, I guess it's only normal to worry but just think a little discomfort for a couple days for a life of happiness.

I had quite a bit of pain. Would I go back and do it again? Absolutely. They give you pain medications as needed, and if you're getting up and moving around it helps dissipate some of the gas, which I think was probably a large part of the pain. Totally worth it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
