conniecash 0 Posted September 6, 2006 I am just getting started. Sometimes I think I should be able to do this on my own. In 10 years I have lost and gained 50 lbs about 3 times and I'm sick of it. I'm excited and scared at the same time. My question is, if any of you had it to do over, would you still get the lap band??

Alexandra 55 Posted September 6, 2006 I am just getting started. Sometimes I think I should be able to do this on my own. In 10 years I have lost and gained 50 lbs about 3 times and I'm sick of it. Hi Connie, We can all relate to those feelings of "I should be able to do this on my own" and "I know I can lose weight!" What brought me to the band was the realization that nothing, ever, has ever made it so that I could lose weight and keep it off. I needed help, and I wasn't ashamed, finally, to admit it. It's been a miracle in my life. I would do it again and again and again if I had to. I'm not some skinny mini who has reached "goal" and don't expect to ever fit in to a size 12, much less an 8. But the band has made it possible for me to experience a life and imagine a future of normal proportions, and that to me is a continuing medical wonder. Leila 0 Posted September 6, 2006 Like many others, my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I was banded just under 3 months ago. Yes I was nervous before, I had doubts and concerns, and right after when healing from surgery I would occasionally wonder if I'd done the right thing. Now I know, this has been life changing. I feel better than I've felt in so long that I can't remember the last time I felt this good, and that's less than three months out! Not just weight lost, but I have so much more energy, less stress, general well being and happiness is at an all time high. I finally feel like I have the tools I need to succeed at losing my weight and keeping it off.
