I was sleeved on the 19th and I too am having a hard time dealing with the food and always being hungry. When I eat it seems I get sooooo gassy and cannot quit burping even though I take small small drinks. I hope this gets better

I didn't know what a PPI was either until I googled it. Interesting though, I was told my acid reflux would improve or go away after the gastric sleeve. I will be having this procedure - but not until September. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are a group of medications that decreases the amount of acid in the stomach and intestines

Often hunger is in our heads or is actually thirst. I told myself several times " No this is real hunger and I was wrong" The battle is more in our minds then the numbers on the scale. You have to stay strong and fight the urge to eat and I mean fight hard. Write out your eating plan for the day, post it on the fridge. Mark off items as you eat and if it isn't on the plan it doesn't go in your mouth. Drink more fluids and stick to the plan. I will get better

I was sleeved on the 20th and am having similar stuff. I feel like I could eat a meal like before. I had heard that one egg would fill me up, but it doesn't feel like it does. I also burp ALOT after I eat. I am scared I will let my head win, and over eat...

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
