Maria's Memo

Recommended Posts

Thank you Yoda.

I am never comfortable talking about myself, i am one of these people who sits in the back of the room, so no one will notice me.

I was coughing so much last week i was concerned i would do damage to my band, i had no voice, my husband enjoyed it though i could'nt nag at him LOL.

You know i could gain 5 lbs. in a week before banding, but that was because i would eat a lot. It was such a shock to my system when that scale showed a 5 lb weight loss. Tomorrow is the day i weigh in, i hope the scale shows a loss, if not then it is time to go for another fill, i have only had the one since banding.

Yes you are right Yoda slow but sure does wins the race, i was happy with a 1 to 2 lb. loss a week, but not to go backwards LOL, at least we have a way to get us back on track again. Thank god for fill adjustments.

Maria :)

Thank you Cloe, Wheezy, Neenagh.

I am not very good at talking about myself, I am one of these people who pretends everything is going well, you know puts a brave face on, but inside i am hurting, or tell myself my problems are not worth talking about, so i just keep quiet.

I thought getting this band and losing weight was going to help my back problems, but my back is worse now than it was before banding, actually it is more my hip than my back. I was diagnosed with osteo arthritis and that losing weight would help, but it is not helping so far.

I hate getting older, turning sixty is for the birds, so much for the golding years.:cry and on top of that i gained weight last week, and i have no idea why, i was sick and had no appetite, so i was eating less than i normally do, i expected to lose more than the one to two lbs per week that i have been losing, instead i gained 5 lbs. 5 LBS, YOU CAN GUESS HOW THAT MADE ME FEEL.:angry

Well Cloe i bet you are sorry you asked how i was.

Maria :)

Geez Maria, I'm sorry you feel so rotten. Part of it is probably the season changing that makes your health problems act up as well as being down in the dumps. I have osteo in my knees, and its been a bitch lately with the damp.

I have a lamp that my sister got me that imitates sunlight, and i find it does help a bit with the seasonal depression. As far as the five lbs. THAT SUCKS THE BIG ONE (the great blue whale, largest mammal on earth {as told to me by my 10 yo nephew, when he heard me say that})

I find when i'm sick i gain too, it must be Fluid or something, esp. if your not really eating. It will come off! i'm positive!

As far as being 60, my dh is around there too, and he finds it very hard to accept that he's not 25 any more, and the toughest strongest guy around. Now he's just crotchety! And your definitely NOT crotchety!

Hugs and snugs,

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
