They are located on the same floor they take you after surgery, I forgot, I think 5th floor...the nurses didnt come by to talk to you about them....both instructors visited me while I was there to talk to me about things to do when I got home, what to ask him, and wanted my email to send me a reminder about the meetings....they are fairly good number turn out....every month there's a topic this month was emotional eating, but I missed it....it was raining cats and dogs on that day and refuse to drive in the rain unless I have to...

Let's see about them turkey dogs.

Well, really the fat & calories don't seem too bad(not remotely close to good either), but the sodium is through the roof. Remember this is for 1 dog with no Condiments. Start adding stuff & it only gets worse.

The trick is moderation. Later on if you decide to have a pickle or a hot dog, or God forbid both on occasion it's not going to send you spiraling out of control.

Thanks O. T. R. we have to be reasonable here. I for one will have a little more sodium and other not so good for you things on occasion. Moderation is definitely the trick, says an only dreaming gal on full liquids for a few more days. :)

I second the tofu dogs! They taste great, usually have more Protein than normal hot dogs and have like 1/4 of the calories :)

Morningstar Farms just began production again on their veggie dogs. Still on liquids, so no dog for me yet, but my spouse is a vegetarian and loves them!

I second that trader joes hot dogs. I also know you can get good healthy HD at health foods stores or co-ops but they are expensive and go bad fast so best to keep them frozen until use.

I definitely wouldn't recommend eating a regular hot dog. I ate a Nathan's hot dog about a month ago (no bun) & it was too greasy and made me feel lousy. I used to eat 2 or 3 of them with fries no problem but that was the old me. Not going back!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
