For the record I have not had my surgery yet. That comes on the 6th. But I do have orders already from the doctor.

Phase 3.Soft food diet that we begin in our 4th week. Here are some options that they have given us.

Soft foods are comprised of: things that are easily chewed and will mush up in your mouth easily.

Examples:

scrambled or soft cooked eggs

cottage cheese

cottage cheese w/pureed fruit

refried Beans

tuna, salmon, chicken, or egg salad mixed well with low fat mayo

chicken leg or thigh meat

soft cooked veggies

mac-n-cheese

whole wheat grains

meats that are cooked to really soft consistency-crockpot, pressure cooker

Soft cooked or stewed fruits

oatmeal, cream of wheat, grits

moist meatloaf, turkey loaf

Soups that have easy to chew veggies and meats

I know there are some items on this list that will make somes jaw drop open like the mac-n-cheese and whole wheat grains. However they are not harmful in moderation and remember we are still healing and in need of some soft foods. Some doctors may recommend other things, this is just what my doctor says are options for us to try at this stage that others have done well with.

Good luck to you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
