Chicago1962 125 Posted July 22, 2012 I had my surgery on 6/12. I am writing this on 7/22. I ate a small home-cooked hamburger today with light cheese. No bread. It was so good after so many weeks (total of about 6 pre and post op) of liguids, shakes and mush. I feel fine today. It's been about 7 hours since i had the burger. Per my post-op instructions as long as I chew really well I can eat solids now. But I thought I'd check with those of you who go before me. Sometimes I feel a slight pain in my tummy - but it's still so hard to know what I'm feeling. My stomach is so different now. I don't feel hungry ever. Full is so different than before. I feel liquids flow through my stomach sometimes which is wierd. Do others feel that too? Any first-hand advice on adjusting to my new stomach and eating solids would be helpful. Thank you!!!! Territravel 217 Posted July 22, 2012 If your feeling alright, then your probably ready...You've heard the drill, chew, chew, chew! I was sleeved on jun15 and have been eating solids for a week. You WILL know, if you eat too fast, or don't chew well enough...
traceyinflorida 499 Posted July 22, 2012 I have been eating soft foods for a couple of weeks now. I had my surgery a week before you. If you felt okay after eating it, then it is probably okay. My rule of thumb is to go slow. If it feels bad, then I don't eat it again, but may try again with that food in a week or so. It's funny, I noticed on this forum that everyone's nutrition orders vary as to each food stage.
