My Revelation

Recommended Posts

Since my banding, I have had a revelation. I am shocked to learn that "skinny" people aren't hungry all the time! I thought everyone was always hungry, but thinner people just controlled it better.

Unless someone has experienced the change, I suppose it would be impossible to understand how different the hunger feelings are, but there is definitely a difference for me.

I still have head hunger at times, but the constant tummy hunger has changed.

Does anyone else feel....I don't know....like they were fighting an unbeatable foe prior to the banding?

and...

...it WASN'T our fault!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you, Koala, and again, I don't. I think thin people do think about food less than fat people, and maybe they aren't hungry as often, or to the same degree. They are the ones who "forgot to eat" dinner last night, or lunch yesterday, because they were so busy. Fat people don't forget to eat. Our bodies DEMAND that we feed them.

I think it's very dangerous to say it's not our fault, however. We have to take responsibility for what goes in our mouths, even if it's harder for us to resist the call of Krispy Kremes than it is for our thin sisters and brothers.

I eat less now because I am banded, and I don't care who knows it. Otherwise, I think I look pretty silly with my 4 oz fillet, no drink, and hold the salad and potatoes. I would rather tell people I'm banded than have people think I'm one of those women who don't eat, or worse yet, that I'm bulimic because sometimes I have to make a quick trip to the ladies room. But that's just me.

Koala, I think you're on to something. I have always felt that my fat makes me fat. I put on a huge amount of weight suddenly as a result of medications. I went from thin to fat in a matter of weeks. Before that I had no food "issues" whatsoever. After that, however, I developed all the negative eating behaviours and cravings. That's why I think the band is so wonderful. The analogy I use for it is that it's like someone is holding the ladder for me.

Good One!!!!!

I read somewhere that the band is a diet with a choke chain. I loved that, too!

Hi,

I do agree 100% that thin people are way less hungry than I used to be. I refuse one shred of responsibility for my weight problem and believe wholeheartedly that some physical/genetic problem caused me to be starving all the time. Now that I have the band I FINALLY have something that causes me to be alot less hungry. I've lost 50 pounds and finally feel that there's hope for me. All I ever needed was something to make me less ravenous. I am NOT saying this is the case for everyone, so before anyone starts once again saying it's actually my fault and I have to take responsibility etc., let me reiterate that this is simply the case for me and I do realize that there are people who feel their weight issues are their own fault and that is fine. But in my case, having something which makes me full for the first time in my life, is nothing short of a miracle and I know thin people are definitely not as hungry as I was.

Interesting posts!! My revelation isn't about fault at all. It is about the hunger being so different. I'm simply not hungry ALL the time like I was. No wonder it was such an uphill fight.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
