I don't worry about carbs at all and I don't pay much attention to calories either. I make sure I get in 70g or Protein per day and 64 oz of Water. For me, that's enough to worry about. :)

If you avoid the carbs you'll lose way more, thats what I've done from the beginning As for Protein, you should be doing a min of 70 g and the other post is correct about doing 64 oz of Water

I try to stay under 40 grams of carbs right now I'm only 7 weeks out though. I basically get about 20 grams of carbs right now and I'm at about 60-65 grams of Protein, I am definitely trying to up my protein, but I can only get about 2 ounces of food in me at a time still.

I try to stay at 60. I did 40 but felt like poop! Its just finding what works for you and your body. My NUT says I should be at 90-100 and I laugh at her. No way.

Hi,

I can only speak from my experience, and what Dr. Aceves wanted me to do. I did not have more than 800 calories per day and watch the carbs--NO more than 20 to 25 carbs per day. Read ALL labels, you might be surprise of the things that have carbs in them--like Milk.

I hope that will help, but check with the doctor that did your surgery.

Hugs,

Suzanne

Really depends on you and your activity level. You need natural carbs from legumes and low gi veggies, you should avoid highly processed carbs in breads and such like.

At once month I was told not to worry about calories. The most important thing is your Protein and 48-64 ounces of liquids.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
