I will be 5 weeks post op tomorrow and I tried sleeping on my side after a week and a half, I turned over a little to far and popped a stitch inside by my belly button, I was in so much pain and it has taken me another 2 weeks to start feeling good again. I hate sleeping on my back but I think that is how I will be sleeping for the next six months, I'm not taking any chances!

I stayed proped up on,a bad couch with pillows. A recliner would have been, better. The second night,i got in bed laid on my,side & was flanked by pillows. For like a couple months I had urges,to keep a pillow snugged on tummy for some odd reason.

If your having trouble sleeping on your back but not ready for side or stomach, try putting a pillow behind (under) your knees. That works for me and I haven't gone back to side sleeping. Good luck!

I am 4 weeks post op but for the first 2 weeks i could only sleep on my left side with a pilllow at my back and hugging another to my abdomen. Now i can sleep on either side, my back and my stomach.

I normally sleep on my stomach as well. I was sleeved on the 17th and I can't imagine sleeping on my tummy now. I've tried sleeping on my side but my tummy is way too sore. Unfortunately it is affecting my sleeping patterns so I'm forced to sleep on the couch. It helps but i can't wait for the soreness to go away. Waah!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
