Question 1) Yep, I take the nasty liquid Calcium too. chalky & nasty! I felt like Lucy doing the vitameatavegamin commercial when I first started taking it! hahaha! I can finally get it down though, here's the trick. You get one of those syringes to give kids medicine from your pharmacy, mine was $1. After sucking up a tsp or so you put it at the back of you tongue and squirt it quickly down your throat!! You can still taste it a little but it has sure helped me get it down =)

Question 2) My doc told me to take colace if I had problems in that "area". I did not, thankfully, but I certainly bought it just to be sure =)

It gets so much easier as the days go on. I didn't think I was ever going to eat again, but now at 3 weeks out I can get down 4oz each meal and I can finally get my Protein in. Good luck on you journey!! It is all worth it no matter what your head tells you in the beginning!!!

Reviva liquid Calcium from costco.com is blueberry-flavored and is not bad, certainly better than horse-sized pills or dreadful chalky chewables. Bariatric Advantage has flavored chews in chocolate, raspberry, caramel, or lemon but they are expensive and high in calories and carbs.

I didn't poop until day five, and then it was liquids in, liquids out for the next month. It takes a while to get stabilized. I used Miralax for a while to help things along.

It was day four for me before I pooped! I'm having problems dealing with the liquid prescriptions too and the syringe idea is genius...thank you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
