Just Waiting To Get Approved

Recommended Posts

I currently have all of my appointments finished, now waiting on insurance. I went to Dr yesterday and they told me to start my Protein diet. Ugh, this is harder already than I thought. I have read through all the papers and I'm not sure what I am supposed to do. I don't know if I am only supposed to have a Protein Shake at Breakfast and lunch and then eat high protein food for supper? What about snacking?????? aAAUUUGGGHHH

Does your surgeon have a nutritionist on staff? If so, contact him/her. They should be able to give you a diet plan to follow. Otherwise, check out the food and Nutrition section here for some tips. What I've seen people do is replace two meals with shakes and the third meal (either lunch or dinner, whichever works for you) consists of about 4 ounces of lean Protein (chicken, fish, etc.) and a non-starchy vegetable. Snacks I've seen pre-op are sugar free Gelatin and popscicles. Note: This would be different than the pre-op diet. That is usually strictly a liquid diet, but again, this varies from doctor to doctor. When in doubt, check with his office.

Good luck!
