So I had my vsg Tuesday the 17th..its been rough these past few days! Gas is killing me, I feel it all over my body it seems! Also, (maybe tmi), but my left butt cheek has been hurting sooo bad! I just felt of it to see if it feels bruised, but it actuallu feels numb. What in the world? I'm confused.

Also, how long did it take for you to get hungry for anything? I came home yesterday, and I've been sleeping for the most part, but I am not hungry at all!! I've been sipping Water..but nothing else..just not hungry yet. Idk?

Well, let's see, I've seen a lot of recomendations for Gas-X strips, never needed them myself.

Hunger? I have het to feel hunger at all. I had a few cravings early on but even those went away pretty quickly.

Numb butt syndrome---- I'm totally lost on this one.

I had numbness and pain in my left thigh for a good amount of time after surgery. I talked to my surgeon about it and he said it could just be the effects of the anethesia. He did tell me that if it didn't get better to make sure I contacted him so that he could run any tests needed to be sure it wasn't a blood clot. It wasn't a blood clot. I would say just give it a little time and if it is still bothering you on Monday I would contact your surgeon's office just to ask about it.

I can't remember how long it took me to get hungry for something. I know by about 1 1/2 weeks out I didn't want liquids anymore, so I guess that would be when. Good luck!

I also had a weird pain/numbness in my left thigh and butt area. It went away after about a week. I'm a little over 6 weeks out and I've only been truly hungry about twice and that's because I hadn't eaten anything all day.

I did experience some wicked food cravings during my two week full liquid phase. Evidently this was my mourning period. I would have killed somebody for a bite of pizza.

Thanks for the responses! :) I'm definitely not missing the hunger right now. And I will call my dr. Monday if I still have the numb butt. Lol its made it nearly impossible to sit for a long time..even when I'm sleeping, I wake up with the urge to jump out of bed because my butt hurts so bad. Who knows! But ill be talking to the dr soon, and may have to get some gas-x strips. We shall see! Thanks again, y'all! :)

If your having pain in your butt, it wouldn't hurt to call you surgeon's office today, since it is friday. Why struggle with the pain if it's unnecessary. Be proactive. Are you taking your pain meds and are they helping you? Please keep us informed, we care about you! :)

I thought about it, but ill just give it a few more days and see how it is Monday. And of course I'm taking my pain meds, and they do help A LOT! Gas is the main discomfort besides the butt. Lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
