Is it just me or have some of you been an emotional wreck since your surgery. I have no patience with my kids, husband, or my animals. I feel like i'm on my cycle all the time even tho I've had a hysterectomy. Gets very frustrating :(

Well, I'm a guy, so I can't relate to the whole cycle thing or even say that I have experienced the emotional issues. I can however tell you that what you are experiencing is completely normal for ladies during weight loss. Estrogen is trapped in fat cells & since you are burning fat at an accelerated rate, you are also releasing estrogen into your bloodstream at the same accelerated rate.

One way to deal with this is to excersise heavily. Excercise releases endorphins into your system that make you happy. This might help to offset some of that estrogen. (sex helps too)

I totally understand! I had a meltdown yesterday. It wasn't pretty. I think for me at least, its hard not having the energy that I want to do what I need. I'm overwhelmed with everything. You are not alone.

Hey O.T.R. I have a question for you. I know that estrogen is released when women are losing weight. Do men lose testerone when they're losing weight. Is Testerone stored in fatty cells? Do you have mood swings also. I hope you don't mind me asking, I'm just curious in nature. :)

Actually we store estrogen I our fat cells also. Fortunately for us, we have enough testosterone to offset the extra estrogen we get, not to mention the extra excercise stimulates our bodies to produce even more testosterone. Sorry, no mood swings, but we can become more aggressive or competitive.

crystal .... i have also had the mood swings! i also have had a hyst years ago, but feel pms'y... i understand what everyone is saying, but it still doesn't make me feel better when i bite my husbands head off "because he looked at me wrong"...

i just make sure that when my mood changes back to "friendly Sandy" that i apologize to him.. give him hugs and kisses.... and that makes me feel better, too....

Even though he understands all this too, i don't want him to ever think "b*t*hy Sandy" is who i have become because of the sleeve. The mood swings will stop (I've been told) :)

Lol! It's hard. My DH has said to me on occasion, "Dang, baby. U got skinny and extra _____ (fill in with cranky, grumpy, bit--y, etc) at the same time." good thing he loves me!! ;)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
