Hey everybody! I was sleeved 10 days ago with Dr. Garcia in Tj. I have a question that is making me completely sick worrying about it...will I ever be able to eat food again and actually enjoy it? I just want to be able to eat vegetables out of the garden! I'm so worried I'll never be able to again or that I won't enjoy food. I know I have major buyers remorse right now.

Yes, we will return to normal. I am 17 days post op and have wondered the same thing. I miss food. As you tolerate more and move into the different phases you will see. At day 17 post op, the pain I'df drinking Water is practically gone! Huge milestone......but it is all baby steps. Hang in there. Each day reveals something new.

Don't worry, you'll be able to eat again! Those first 5 or 6 weeks out are really hard...both physically and emotionally. It will be OK. I'm over 4 months out, life is normal. I can eat almost anything, only just little bits. I have trouble with beef. Veggies from my garden go down just great. Asparagus, artichokes, beets, kale and turnips.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
