Frozen Banana "ice Cream"

Recommended Posts

I peeled a ripe banana, broke it into a few pieces, froze it then pureed it in my ninja blender today. I added 2 tbsp PB2 powder and 2 ounces of chobani nonfat vanilla greek yogurt. It had a creamy consistency and tasted good. You can also add any fruit to the banana, like strawberries, blueberries...

That does sound good! What is PB2?

Its Peanut Butter that has had 80+- % of its fat removed. Also it's a powder

If you google it they have a store locator on their website. I live in a pretty small town & there are 4 stores near me that carry it.

Or you can order it by the case from their site.

Yes, bananas have sugars, natural sugars, not processed sugars, so our bodies process them differently. And yes, they have carbs in them. But bananas aren't going to make you fat. They are a great snack and full of healthy nutrients. I am tired of bananas getting a bad rap. They are healthy and it is not like you are going to eat 10 bananas a day. If you are concerned about carbs and don't want to eat them, that is your choice. But quit spreading uninformed information.

yes bananas have carbs and fortunately, I dont eat this treat very often, maybe once every two weeks. I wanted something sweet like ice cream, but I can't handle the carbs in the low carb ice cream...makes me sick even ( I only had 1/2 the serving size too!) I tolerate this treat much better and dont feel the "downer" from carb intake.

It's everyone's personal choice what they eat. For you, it is not worth it, for her, it is a great treat!

I'm going to pipe up here. My nutritionist WANTS me eating fruit! Until 3 months post op I could barely get out of bed and literally had to crawl there sometimes at night I was so exhausted. Spoke to my nutritionist at a 3 month follow up, told her what was going on and she said FRUIT! Now I eat 2 servings of fruit a day (a total of 1 cup of fruit) and I feel better. I notice if I got a few days without eating fruit I start to get sluggish again. Fruit is not a bad thing and this recipe is delicious as I'ce tried it several times.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
