Throat Growling - Making Noises @#$%#$

Recommended Posts

Ok, need some advice. Everytime I eat anything, my throat starts this embarrassing growing noise. I can feel bubbles like feeling coming up from the bottom of my throat and come to the top. I compare it to the sizzling rock candy I use to eat as a kid. It's so embarrassing and uneasy feeling, it makes me not want to eat at all. What gives? I take Prilosec now.

I have the bubbles, but not the growling. It only happens when I have eaten a little too much.

I have that a bit too. I feel like it's a slow-motion burp.

It is totally normal. I am ten weeks out and everytime I eat it happens. I call it my alien talking because especially if I eat something new it will make all kinds of noises and gurgle sounds. Weird I know but I hope eventually it will go away.

When you have your sleeve with the intact valve at the bottom of the stomach, coupled with the much smaller size of that stomach - pressure builds up and thus the gurgle lol. I was cracking up at my last support group meeting because two sleevers on either side of me had the gurgle going on - then I started in ha-ha.

Sometimes my stomach and/or throat is so loud you can hear it all over the office. It doesn't hurt and there seems to be no stopping it so ... whatever.

It doesn't happen all the time. Non issue for me.

This happens to me. Has since I got my lapband in 2006. Stopped when it came out, started again the day I got sleeved. :)

If you search the board for "gurgling" you'll see it's very, very common.

I sometimes have to tell people, "I promise I'm not burping, it's just a noise I make" because it sounds like a burp that is on its way, but never actually gets out.

BTW, for me it happened constantly when my sleeve was brand new, but over time seems more linked to time of day and what I eat.

Eating later in the day (which I don't do much because it's more uncomfortable) or eating very dense/tough foods (like jerky) seem to make it happen more.

A choir of singing stomach.

This sound and weird feeling is very awkward, I don't know if the people near to me can hear it, haha.

It happens to me whenever I'm about to reach my limit capacity, so I guess I can say it's kinda helpful, lol.

I totally understand what you're talkin about!! I am pre op but have had that pop rock sound for years. I've never thought about what triggers it but I'm sure it's something. Mine is not very loud though..i can hear it but I don't think others around me can...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
