Insurance question

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My name is Deb. I'm from Minnesota. My request will be submitted to my insurance this week for approval. Has anyone had any experience with Health Partners? Can you give me any idea if they will approve or will I need to jump through hoops before approval. Any help will be appreciated. :welldoneclap:

It all depends on what is covered by your plan. Your specific plan details what is required, and the only way to know that is to call them, or go online. Its not as easy as X ins company covers X procedure.

They are all different and depending on what the employer was willing to put on the policy.

I have an appointment in a few weeks, but as I am filling out the paper work I am afraid I don't have enough else wrong with me to get the insurance company to even consider it. I feel discouraged to even try. My husband is totally supportive and says we will self pay, but I feel so guilty putting that strain on my family. Ugg.. How can I get to the point where I know I am worth the money???? Anyone else ever feel this way?

Hi mcteri,

I don't really have anything else wrong with me either but have a 41.5 BMI. I've got my fingers crossed and expect to hear back from the insurance company in a few weeks. Do try with the insurance company, if that doesn't work then try the self pay. Your husband is a wise and wonderful man. He realizes how important this surgery is for your health.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
