healthyme 1 Posted July 19, 2012 Does anyone successfully eat popcorn? How many weeks after surgery could you eat it?
melbelinc 33 Posted July 19, 2012 I do a little. There is a restaurant a friend and I go to that puts it on the table. At first (maybe 6 or weeks out) I would pick each piece apart to make sure I didn't eat any kernel. I was afraid of those getting stuck in the stapled areas of my sleeve. I just wanted to taste and little bit of saltiness. But now (11 weeks) I can just eat it and am fine. But just be careful. A few times I found myself just eating it and not noticing. I felt a little crummy about it but it could have been guilt too or fear because I don't want to fall into bad habits. But I will eat one piece at a time and just enjoy it. But picking it apart might be a good way to start. I also drink a little Water or tea when I ate it too so It was being washed through too.
Indymom 132 Posted July 19, 2012 I waited over 3 months. I really worried about those little sharp hulls getting stuck in my staple line. Plus, popcorn is a really nasty slider food (at least for me). It's like my sleeve has disappeared when I get started on popcorn (usually when I buy it for my daughter after a trip to Target). Addicting slider foods = trouble for Indymom.
lsereno 2,525 Posted July 19, 2012 I eat it, but it is a slider. I was probably at least three months out before I reintroduced it. I have it for a snack or at the movies, just not all the time. Also, I pop my own at home so I can control how much fat and salt are in it. Lynda
