Peanut Butter

Recommended Posts

This is funny but I am only on my first week but when can I have Peanut Butter again? I like it as a snack. I would get a teaspoon with a little on there and eat that and it was filling. Thanks.

Peanut Butter was on my pureed list - that was starting the 3rd week following surgery. I had 1/2 a container of the Jiff to Go pack an about an hour after eating it I got really sick. Haven't tried it again but I do feel like I found a cure for constipation! LOL

I was allowed creamy Peanut Butter 2nd week. 2 tsp with 2 saltine crackers. Had to eat it VERY slowly!!

Warning though at least for me. Could eat it one day and not the next. Who knows. Had 1 tsp pb with a cracker yesterday and was fine. (5 1/2 weeks out now)

Have you heard of PB2? Check Amazon.com or your local store. I am actually allowed this immediately after surgery and love it in my chocolate nectar Protein Shake. 2TB PB2 - 1 scoop Protein mix - 2tsp of SF banana coffee Syrup & 1/2 cup milk. Ymmmm!

Try to find Jif low sodium PB cuz the sodium in regular PB is too high. Can be dangerous if you eat too much so eat sparingly. Also fat grams are high in PB. I am 8 months out and just spread a very thin layer on a rice cake ainly just for the taste. Really good but then I started craving two of them every evning. So I stopped buying rice cakes so I wouldn't eat the PB. My doctor says PB is not a good idea because of the fat.

I love it too. Only thing is I can't eat more than 3 tbsp in a week. Haven't figured that out yet - its like something says STOP ... ????

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
