Hi i'm new to the website, I had my surgery 05/03/2012 and lost 20 lbs pre surgery and 33 since. my story started in january and it was all pretty good from there, i had a three month wait with the insurance for dietician visit, did all that and was approved in a week, i was so happy, had to wait another month due to scheduling conflicts. recovery was good other than the constant fatigue. i still struggle to get enough protein/calories in especially on the days i exercise. i'm recently also noticing sagging skin which i don't really like but i guess it's better than the alternative. i really think exercise has replaced my food. i'm trying to find ways to hide the excess skin (any tips would be helpful especailly for the arms). I have gone shopping yet i want to go down another size before i do that.

I look forward to sharing with everyone, i will post pics soon !

hope you will be feeling stronger and not as fatigued. soon

getting your Protein and calories in, you do need to improve on that.

you could do a Protein shake here and there to help get your calorie count and Protein up.

i'm sure you are aware how imperative liquids/water are - by now you hopefully are working your way up to 64 oz. liquids

if you are on solids you could eat chicken or fish, they have alot of protein and of course they have calories too.

maybe keep track of your food,Water, and exercise on the MFP board.

as far as the sagging skin goes... i have alot of "rear end action gong on back there :D so glad my rear is not as big as it was - but a lot of excess skin just hanging around is no good to anyone.

don't wear shorts, or bathing suit, so no one sees me except hubby.

you'll be fine - you are exercising that is great. some people that have reached goal say that after a couple of years you do firm up "a little" not sure about that - but i can always hope

wonderful that you have lost over 50 lbs between pre-op and after. thats great -

welcome to the board

good luck

kathy

Thanks for the encouragement ! I have also heard that things tighten up after awhile and my doctor kept harping about how much things "bounce back" but my response is always " bounce back to what?" I've been over weight my whole life :-/

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
