I am one month out...I am shooting for 60g Protein, 600-800 calories, and my NUT said 120g of carbs. Does that seem high to anyone else? It seems like a lot to me. Also no guideline on fat. What are everyone else's guidelines/goals?

woo - that is very high - I think a lot of folks around here try and keep it 40 g and under during "magic year" - or our biggest losing phase. My NUT wants us to have 600-800 cals, 80+ g Protein, and I try and get between 20-40 carbs a day - which come mainly from fruits, and my Vitamins and calcium chews contain carbs. I dont worry about fat, with what we are supposed to eat it is usually fairly low, yesterday I had 29 fat grams, day before it was 17, etc - never seems to get that high - it is the carbs that are the devil lol.

Your carb expectation is extremely high. I try to keep my carbs below 40. ;)

I'm not a nutritionist, and every program will have their own guidelines...but....that seems awfully high to me. My Protein goal is 75-80g/day, and calories between 600-800. As far as carbs go, my typical day is between 25 and 30g of carbs, and never from anything sweetened with sugar.

All the best to you!

I am a realist. I eat carbs mainly because I have to live with the sleeve not go on a year-long diet. If that seems high to u then cut it down a bit but don't start a way of eating that u can't maintain for a year, 3, 5, or 30. I eat how I plan on eating for the rest of my life... and yes that includes carbs in moderation.

I don't low carb like tons on here do. It is mainly because I eat lots of dairy products, like Kefir, that have tons of carbs.

I typically get no more than 50g a day, which is still "low carb" to "normal" people. You shouldn't have an easy time getting anywhere near that goal. I can't even eat half a piece of toast.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
