Well, the title says it all. I am 4 1/2 months out and for 3 days the toilet bowl has been full of blood. I am not struggling to poop and I don't know if it's related to my sleeve or not...?

I'm a nurse and I don't want to alarm you but you must call your Dr. and report what's happening ASAP!!. If the blood is bright red that means it probably is localized in the bowel. If its dark and tar like substance its more than likely from higher up like in the stomach. PLEASE don't wait one more day and please let me know what the out come is. Debbie

I'm a nurse and I must tell you to call your PCP and tell them what is happening ASAP!!!. Or go the the ER if you don't have a family Dr. If the blood is bright red that means it is probably localized in the bowel. If the blood is black and thick in nature like tar then it is from higher up, more than likely in the stomach or esophagus. This is very urgent that you hear my message, I sent you another message but don't know where it went so if you received it then no that this second one means URGENT. Please let me know what happens. Debbie

I just saw this message. It is bright red. It seems like It just pours out when I poop but with no pain. I do not have a pcp or insurance so I am very limited as to my options for medical care...

If you've had kids it could be henmroids - this is what was happening to me freaked me out but dr said that they didn't recommend removal so I just make sure to go in for colonoscopies every 2 years.

If I were you I would still have it checked out and see if you could arrange a payment plan if necessary? Cause it could be something major - blood in stools isn't normal.

Well you can go to the ER. So that make sure you are okay. It happened to me also right after the surgery. It only happened once...but it was a lot of bright red blood kinda scary.

I'm worried about the statement that it is pouring out, this is indicitive of a gastric bleed which should be checked out at the very least. Hopefully it is just a hemorrhoid. However the pouring out concerns me. Most cities have an urgent care facility, or you may opt to be checked out by a nurse practitioner which is a fraction of the cost..

I have had this, a month ago, I freaked out and went to the ER. It was just some blood from the toughness of my stool. I wasn't straining or having pain, but apparently it was still tearing. They just told me to keep it clean and it should heal up just fine. It did.

I though there was a ton of blood as well, but then I though about how Water can make it appear that way.

You may want to play it safe and go to a clinic or something. If you don't have insurance most clinics have a "sliding scale" donation. I have never donated though. <_<

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
