tara1021 13 Posted July 18, 2012 Yesterday was 3 weeks since my surgery and I had my first post op appt today. All went well. I'm down a total of 44 lbs, 26 since surgery. I expressed my concern over the major reflux issues I've been having the last week. I did not have reflux issues at all pre surgery, except when I was pregnant with my twins. He told methat when people have reflux pre sleeve, the sleeve only makes it worse, so he won't sleeve them, only bypass. He said I was the first patient he's had to complain of reflux post, that didn't have it pre. Weird. He prescribed Prevacid. Hopefully it works. I'm dyin ova hea! Dooter 1,457 Posted July 18, 2012 That IS weird. I've heard mixed reports. I've had reflux since I was roughly 17 (before they gave relflux a real name) and I've heard some say that surgery will actually cure it, and then some that say it will still be there. At five months, I still have it, but my doc wants me on reflux meds for six months ANYway. If the prevacid doesn't work, try a different brand. Everyone responds to certain ones better than others. petite-size-me! 70 Posted July 18, 2012 I've never had reflux (except twin pregnancy, more a space issue I think) and my surgeon said all sleeve patients go home on antacids. I'm on nexium. He said initially 4 months then will re evaluate.
