Texarkolina 201 Posted July 18, 2012 Mine is July 23rd. My daughter goes to daycare 5 blocks away from my house. I am wondering how soon I will be able to take her myself. I guess I could get her to get in the stroller and walk her there, but I am kinda afraid of getting halfway and not being able to continue. I have a sitter lined up, but it gets so expensive....... UTGal99 327 Posted July 18, 2012 Three weeks before you can drive??? Oh my goodness - that isn't good - my hubby travels alot for work. I have little ones that I would need to pick up from school and other activities - oh no! I figured I would be out of commission for about 10 days but didn't expect 21 - wow!!! cutisnurse21 4 Posted July 18, 2012 I bet I don't got kids yet but I would Imagine. But ur health is at sake first. The walk would be great but work ur way up like try having babysitter pick child up and meet her two blocks then three then so forth make sure u take a water bottle and phone should u need assistance. The walking will be great for u
funkeechiggen 135 Posted July 18, 2012 FYI - I've read many posts here where members said they were cleared to drive as soon as they were off pain meds. Three weeks seems very excessive to me and not the norm...
Minckle 87 Posted July 18, 2012 Three weeks seems crazy to me! I was driving as soon as I was off my meds - about Day 6, I believe. Just short distances, though, like to my daughter's school. It was a few more days before I felt totally okay for longer drives.
cutisnurse21 4 Posted July 18, 2012 Hmmm maybe I need to recheck with my doctor but that's wat I was told. Thank u for heads up
keldolbeth 262 Posted July 18, 2012 Yeah, doctor said as soon as off of pain meds AND could comfortably turn all directions to view mirrors, back out, etc. I drove to my one week post-op appointment and probably shouldn't have. I made my mom drive home. I was still having a lot of fatigue and dizziness.

Mz_Elle 23 Posted July 18, 2012 I was able to drive after 1 week follow-up. The doc asked me if I was still on Lortab pain meds. I was not. He asked if I felt any discomfort twisting my abdomen or moving around. I had none.... "OK. You can drive now" was his response. He said if I began to feel pain to give him a call. No problems thus far. I go back to work tomorrow.
