Sherry77 166 Posted July 18, 2012 I just watched a video of the sleeve being done. Why did I do that?I'm freaking myself out. They showed a video at my seminar 2 months ago, however it seemed more freeky from my living room. I could see the heart beating and I just kept thinking... What if they nick the heart on mistake while putting in the sutures? Ahhhh I totally regret watching it. Advice....If you haven't already don't watch a live surgery video. 1 SuiteV reacted to this
UTGal99 327 Posted July 18, 2012 I watched one on youtube too - probably the same one - I saw the heart beating too. Actually it gave me a little comfort watching it - at least I knew what I am getting into. Interesting...

babyblues4all2c 24 Posted July 18, 2012 I have watched a couple video's. Didn't phase me. But I love stuff like that, it's one of the reasons I want to go into nursing.
allnewme 262 Posted July 18, 2012 My Dr. has one on youtube and wants us to watch it. It rather grosses me out but I try not to focus on it.
GreginMI 76 Posted July 18, 2012 It's normal to get a little freaked out about surgery, but this is routine stuff for these doctors and no big deal to them so take that for what it's worth. As someone who has had this surgery, I can say it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. Relax, it's going to be fine. 2 UTGal99 and Sherry77 reacted to this
SML1997 308 Posted July 18, 2012 I've watch those videos plenty of times. It certainly gives me a higher level of respect for the work these doctors do. The human anatomy is a beautiful thing, however when I see the blood at times... freaks me out. Glad to know I will be knocked out while it's happening. LOL. 2 UTGal99 and Sherry77 reacted to this

I should have been a surgeon. Too bad child support and a greedy ex gf got in the way. I think that I would have been great. 1 Sherry77 reacted to this
Heyher 581 Posted July 18, 2012 I watched two videos, and while it was a little scary thinking "they will be doing this to me??" it also answered questions I had. To nick the heart they would have to go through the diaphragm past the lungs and to the left. I hope my surgeon knows when he reachs the diaphragm to stop. LoL!! Pre op nerves can get people thinking worst case scenarios. Just imagine when you go in for surgery the doc is in the back practicing on a game of operation. LoL!!!
