kjntwins 59 Posted July 18, 2012 I know my surgery is not till September or October. I normally do not go overboard with food like this. But since I know I am having the surgery and before I start my pre-op diet. I am eating everything in sight, kinda like getting it all in before the last day. Did anyone else do this? 1 Randgalt reacted to this
UTGal99 327 Posted July 18, 2012 I know how you feel. I don't have a surgery date just yet but I feel the urge to do that too! I have read to tone it down though b/c you want to cleanse your liver prior to surgery.
Minckle 87 Posted July 18, 2012 I did that for a while, then ran out of steam. I nearly OD'd on soda and beer! But the foods you love... you aren't saying goodbye to them forever, just temporarily. Keep that in mind. And that you'll have to lose every pound you gain now! 6 candle lady, shangefan, chad2rad and 3 others reacted to this
SecondThoughts 1 Posted July 18, 2012 I was craving everything in sight at first. I'm currently on my 10 liquid diet and I'm craving more stuff! Hopefully this feeling goes away :/

Keep that in mind. And that you'll have to lose every pound you gain now! You never regret eating healthy, you always regret eating unhealthy. I actually ate better before surgery to get my mind right. Salads and more salads. The weight will still take effort to come off and you will think back had I been this weight the day of surgery I would be this weight post op had I not went od. 2 candle lady and Angela324 reacted to this
TaiDyed 59 Posted July 18, 2012 Indeed! I have been in the middle of just that over the past 2 months. I have been struggling with the "last meal" syndrome since I started the process of having band to sleeve revision. Fortunately, my pre op diet starts on Monday and I'm going to do my very best to really use those 2 weeks to regain control again.
Angela324 13 Posted July 18, 2012 So glad you posted about this because I have been doing the same thing and was going to post a question about it too tonight! Really, what are we thinking? But then again, it is just proving to me how much I do need this surgery. I'm going to have to slow it down though because I don't want to buy bigger sizes to get me by until the surgery. 1 magee2318 reacted to this
babyblues4all2c 24 Posted July 18, 2012 I felt the same way today. I finished my nut classes and now I don't have someone looking at my food logs for the week. I really wanted to hit the buffet. But went to subway with my sister instead. 1 chad2rad reacted to this
GreginMI 76 Posted July 18, 2012 Eat all you want before the surgery. It doesn't really matter. Your mind will totally change about food after the surgery, trust me. I don't know how it does it, but it breaks your addiction to food. For most people, anyway. I wouldn't starve myself until I had to for the pre-op diet if I was you. 1 Dooter reacted to this
CBT 450 Posted July 18, 2012 And that you'll have to lose every pound you gain now! With surgery next Wed the 25th, I wish I would've made this connection sooner. I wasn't over-eating but not working as hard at cleaning up my diet. About a month ago I realized that I could've started at a lower surgery weight thus getting me closer to goal with the sleeve? I don't think I'm saying this as clearly as its in my head. Must be time to sleep. life is a journey, not a destination; so, stop running -H.D. Dooter 1,457 Posted July 18, 2012 I did it. I have never been more hungry than the day I made the appt for surgery. I went wild. I can't believe I only gained 10 pounds, and Yes....I did have to re-lose that 10 pounds, but I don't regret a bite. One day about a week before I started pre op liquids, I felt SICK because I overdid it that day, and I got MAD. Mad at food, mad at me.... At that point I couldn't wait to start liquids so I could feel some relief from it all. I still don't regret "getting it out of my system." I really did say goodbye, because I was eating stuff I have NO business dabbling in now. Even when I get skinny, I won't be visiting Krispy Kreme on a regular basis. Maybe once a year on my birthday, if that. And McDonald's??? FORGET IT!! That stuff is GONe!!! Ya-if there is something that will forever haunt you.... go have it now. Maybe one, not twelve. 3 Randgalt, Smiley79 and Silly Phylly reacted to this
Randgalt 43 Posted July 18, 2012 Wow. I was just going to post this same thing. Since I decided to do Vsg I've totally fallen off the wagon and am binge eating. I'm actually a bit sick of it right now.
2BThinAlways 17 Posted July 18, 2012 I went through this too! I felt like I was going crazy for a few weeks there! It's true, the surgery really does change things.
O.T.R. sleever 3,386 Posted July 18, 2012 I made its point to eat anything I wanted before my surgery, I went nuts, I probably spent more on food in those 2-3 weeks than I typically do in 2 months. Though many all this a "Food Funeral" and say that it's not good, I don't regret it a bit. Certain foods that I loved I over did so badly that I really don't miss them now (mostly red meats). I can say if I had this to do again, I would likely have done it the same way. *** I don't recommend anyone follow my example. All I'm saying is it worked for me. 1 Dooter reacted to this
