I am hoping this video will post. If not, it is Slimmfast's latest video on YouTube. She had her surgery done by Dr. Kelly, but is now following up at a bariatric clinic in the states. She's 5 months out and has some good info. Thanks for reading!!

I know I'm a newbie here, but this woman's story is a catalog of everything my surgeon told me not to do. An object lesson for us all, I suppose.

That made me sad! I went to Dr Kelly a month after her and watched all her videos before my surgery. I'm sorry that she is struggling. She is such a beautiful girl. I can't wait until her next check in. I bet she will do great.

From everything I've read, your stomach can never stretch out to the same size it was. Her example from her doctor must be an anomaly.

I would really like to know if this is true or not.

i have heard others say that it is possible if a person constantly overeats. it's a lot harder to do than with other weight loss surgeries, though. i am going to be careful and play it safe. :)

No friggen way it can stretch out to normal size. I believe you can eat around the sleeve, but stretching from 4-6 oz to ONE QUART???!!! Right. I have read studies that show after 5 years it can stretch to 8oz. We are talking sleeve here and not pouch. That was a scare tactic. She needed it though. VERY irresponsible. She is doing the opposite of what she should be doing. I have to ask WHY? She is not "struggling." She wasn't even trying by her own admission. It almost seemed like self-sabotage, but with a lackadaisical attitude.

Just continue to measure food, eat high Protein, lower carb, no sugar, alcohol as a seldom treat. Why go through all that just to ---- it up?

I do xrays for a living and I have seen my own xray post sleeve. The staples are SOOOOO very tiny that even with my trained eyes who have looked at xrays for over 20 years now could barely find them on myself when I knew where to look. I also know that from a plain xray the Dr. would not be able to tell the size or shape of her stomach unless he had her drink some sort of contrast. Who knows... maybe her new Dr. is F-O-S, there are plenty of Dr's out there who are, or just plain mis-informed.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
