Hello everyone!

I just joined this forum after doing an internet search...and it looks like everyone here has some great stories and advice!

I have surgery tomorrow...and I'm nervous as heck!!

I'm 29 years old, live in California, married and have a 7 year old daughter.

My highest weight was 293, staring weight before liquid diet was 292 and I weighed in yesterday to get my "final" pre surgery weight at 277...boy did I struggle with that. The liquid diet was so hard, but it got easier.

Finally registered at the hospital as well, they didn't say I couldn't eat...just not past midnight..wondering if I should have a "last meal"....haha.

Well, that's pretty much it. I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. Hope the pain isn't too bad after surgery. I've had a c-section before and that was painful!

Thanks!

Welcome! My surgery is on Thursday and I am on all Clear liquids tomorrow. I am going to miss my Protein shakes as I have gotten used to those being on the liquid diet. I wouldn't have a "last supper" if I were you just because I wouldn't want anything to get in the way of you having a successful surgery.

Best of luck tomorrow!!!

Welcome and congrats! I wouldnt have the last meal, just in case. I only had to do a two day liquid before surgery...thank goodness! Best of luck to you...keep us posted when you can.

Congrats! We all wish you well.

P.S. About the "not eating past midnight" thing, it's a little late in the day now but I'd advise fasting for the rest of the day. It shouldn't be an issue operation wise but if you're like me and a host of others you have a tendency to get constipated after anesthesia, and take my word for it, it is NOT pleasant to bear down and push hard to go after abdominal surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
