Dr. Kelly Patients: Confused By Post Op Meal Plan...

Recommended Posts

Cece (love her but she is hard to understand) went over it but i was not following very well. I'm reading it but it still isn't clear..

It says Day 8 add milk.

Day 10 add Protein Shakes (I got the OK to skip to this already because i was kinda weak/shaky)

When can we add things like yogurt, pudding etc...

When can we add pureed foods? (i.e. egg salad in a blender, or chicken with a little chicken stock)

I feel SO MUCH better eating Protein and think it will improve with more 'real' food.. yet i don't want to push anything....

I think "mushies" which I'm understanding to be like mashed potatoes or soft things but with texture are day 22.. but can we have purees before then? (blended soft)

?

The post op diet instructions weren't very clear from me either. I went to a weight loss seminar in the US before I settled on going to Dr. Kelly. They gave me a booklet that went over dietary and lifestyle direction very thoroughly. If you will PM me, I would be happy to email you.

Pam was also sleeved by Dr. Kelly a few days after me, and she sent me an email that clarified things a little better. I can forward that to you as well.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
