Merves' date='

I slept in a recliner for a day then moved to the bed with lots of pillows, behind me for support and in front where I put the drain bulb. Don't forget it is okay to use your pain meds and sip, sip, sip your fluids. Then walk it will help move the gas from your body.[/quote']

A friend of mine screamed when it was removed and scared the heck out of the nurse who didn't expect a response. Turns out she hadn't turned the knob that stops it being a vacuum... It was much better the second time she went to remove it!

Mine was a weird sensation like removing stitches but not pain.

Thanks. I was trying to avoid my pain meds, bc they keep me from peeing. But I'm just going to take them. I'm not getting enough fluids I don't think. But is that ok for the first few days?

I don't know why it has to be in there. My doc said something like, to check for leaks. It's really uncomfortable. So is my belly button. I just want the darn drain out. Ouch!

Yes. It will become more clear. One reason it needs to stay there is to see if you get a leak. Like, if you eat green Jello and then there is green in the drain. Take your pain meds. I slept on the couch that first week. I never could sleep on my back but I broke that habit for sure. And getting it out was no big deal. It takes maybe a second and then relief. Personally I was obsessed with it when I had it. Freaking out about every drop of Fluid that came out of my body outside of the drain and I HAD to show it to everyone. Lol! But in the end, everything that was happening was totally normal. Just rest, relax, and take some drugs. :)

My drain is really hurting. :( I want it out. My doc said that it needs to stay in for at least a week. I'm so tired, bc I can't find a good position to sleep.

I had ALOT of pain with my drain too...Use a heating pad and it helps with the pain. I promise. When you go to bed, prop up at least 4 pillows, lay on your back and let the heating pad lay on your drain area. It will alleviate the pain so you can get some rest. I also took the liquid Loritab every 2 hours (1/2 dose) instead of waiting 4 hours for a full dose. I know it hurts to walk with the drain, but if you can walk in the grocery store with a buggy to hang on to...even 10 minutes, it will help too.

Hope this helps. Hang in there, my was horrible. I'm starting week 4 and the back pain just quit about 3 days ago.

Thank you! I'm trying not to get discouraged. I'm just taking pain Meds too. It hurts to breathe with the drain. I hope that's normal too.

I totally understand. I was so discouraged 2 weeks ago and depressed. It will get better. Everyone told me that and it was hard to believe, but it will. My pain didn't completely stop when the drain came out but it was the start of the end of pain. Try to get sunshine when you can. Leave the house at least once a day. When the drain came out, I bought some spandex style tanks to wear under my clothes...WOW what a help. I don't go anywhere without wearing one now. It pulls all the excess fat and skin up to my stomach and minimizes the pain by a 100%. I bought mine at Walmart for $17. They have some at Lane Bryant for more. I bought the ones that go under your bra but it hurts my shoulders when it pulls down. If you have any questions, you can always private message me too. Take care and know this too will pass and it will get better.

I had my drain in until 10 days post op. I slept in a recliner until I had it removed and stayed on pain meds. Take what you need to keep pain under control because if you are in pain you may not feel like sipping. Hang in there.

I think the most painful thing I've suffered with this surgery, was when they removed my drain. It has been the worst pain I've ever felt :( ughh, I screamed, haha.

The good thing was that I felt instant relief after that. The drain was causing me painful hiccups attacks and they stopped when they took it out.

Mine stung a little bit coming out after 7 days but not too bad. I agree with everyone about the weird sensation. I've never felt anything quite like that darn thing coming out of me.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
