So I was sleeved yesterday! I'm doing ok. I think the gas is what's hurting the most. I feel so full and bubbly. Not normal fullness. When does it stop or go away? I know it just all depends. I'm trying to walk as much as I can.

Congratulations... it gets better from here, and feels worth it as those numbers shrink. ;)

Any abdominal surgery can have this effect, and this particular one for sure. Also, if the surgery was done laparoscopically, you were pumped full of CO2 to make room for the instruments. Serious bloating and gas are the result. Walking, as you're doing helps move things along, and as you feel better physically, spending about 10 minutes at a time (3-4 x per day) on your elbows and knees with your butt in the air also helps. :P Not exactly elegant, but it is effective.

I feel like every time I take a sip and swallow, I hear a big gurgle noise. And it's uncomfortable. I'm guessing this is normal bc I was sleeved yesterday?

Totally normal. The pain should subside by day 3, but the gurgling lasts for a while.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
