Before/after Pics - 6 Months

Recommended Posts

Here are my before and after photos from surgeon's office at 6 month followup. This was back in May so I'm actually down another 25 lbs from the last picture. I knew I felt a lot better but for some reason it really didn't resonate fully until I saw these pictures tonight. I don't even recognize that person from the before picture. I can't wait to get this last 67 lbs off to hit goal.

Wow!! You're looking great!! It even shows in your facial expression. You look happier, IMO. :)

You look great! Keep up the great work. Any regrets, comments, etc for a pre-op person like myself?

Hi UTGal! The only regret I had was just detoxing from my addiction to food a few weeks after the surgery. When I hit my week 3 stall where I didn't lose anything and was still on liquid mush and couldn't eat anything with texture there was a moment where I questioned it all. In past diet attempts, this is when I would give in to the food addiction but with the surgery and following surgeon orders that was not an option. By the next week I lost 5 lbs, was feeling so much better and since then I've had zero regrets.

Just enjoy the process, every time you feel challenged just use it as motivation. There will be ups and downs but the journey is full of rewards. Good luck!

Thank you for your response. Not even sure I can be friends with you since you are a Bama fan and I am from Tennessee. I will let it slide this time though....for the sake of getting healthy! :) LOL

Congratulations- you look awesome!! I bet you are even slimmer then you appear in the "after picture" as your clothes look baggy... I'm having a hard time breaking that habit too- all my clothes are baggy as I've hidden behind them for such a long time!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
