Nsv... I Went From 5:45 Am To 5 Pm Without Using My Wheelchair...

Recommended Posts

thank you Tracy....

i am in a stall again but i haven't given up on my walking... i know stalls happen, so not allowing the scale to dampen my spirits.... i am able to walk longer now, except when i am cooking... standing in one place for any length of time is not good... My back starts to fail me and begins spasming & after it spasms , i am in my chair the rest of the night......

before it begins to fail & spasm, i use my chair for cooking but then up and about rest of night... so, technically i walk from waking up to bedtime except for cooking dinner... woo hoo!!!

i am in a stall right now (been going on for about a week to 10 days) .... not fun but expected.... tomorrow is my day to take measurements, so looking forward to those numbers!

thank you again for all your support... :)

Your story is so inspiring. I bet your leg muscles are growing from all the extra work. Gaining that muscle would account for a stall.

I stalled too & scale wouldn't move for 6 weeks. People kept saying I looked smaller. I actually went down a size but the scale didn't move. You keep on keeping on Little Engine! You GOT this!!

sorry been so long since update...weather beautiful and just been busy.

i am walking more and more every day. Still need to do it mostly in the house (need immediate access to sitting down) but i did walk with my husband outside to the end of driveway and back... :)

i have been in a stall for about ... depending on Water retention i have been playing yo-yo with a couple pounds...so decided to measure.

Results: since surgery i have gone from 294 to 244.5 ((down 49.5 lbs)) and have lost a total of 50 inches... ((-9.5 off bust .. -4.5 & -5 off my L & R thighs.. to name a few))

49.5 lbs and 50 inches is a small child!!!

what a wonderful way to start my weekend!

I love my sleeve.

NSV Update ** I just wanted to let everyone know that I have gone a whole week WITHOUT using my wheelchair!!! I was having to use it after 7:30 - 8:00 pm but starting last week i decided it was time to take a stand... so as of last Monday ""no more wheelchair"" ... when i felt the nagging pains .... that use to make me get into my chair... I sat down on a chair or the couch for s few minutes... then got up and continued walking...I did have to buy some compression socks because of leg cramps...

Next week, I will have my husband remove the motorized chair from the house...

I gained weight (244 to 248) last week but I am to excited about not using the chair minutes, I don't care.

Do you think maybe the weight gain is muscle?...((From all the walking))

You are awesome.

The weight gain could be a combination of muscle gain and inflammation from using all those muscles that you have not been using for so long.

Did you get yourself any kind of walking stick/hiking pole/cane? Not only will it help with balance but it will transfer the impact and strain of walking to your upper body muscles so your lower body muscles (and joints) will not get so fatigued. I noticed that even Walmart is selling the hiking poles now. They are right next to the tents in the sporting goods section. I am a firm believer in them. I don't hike without them.

Keep up the great work. You are definitely my inspiration. I don't tell my wife much about what I read here on this forum but I have kept her up to date on this thread. It's a great story.

i have added an activity i have not done in probably 15-20 years...

gardening!

i had to take my walker with me, so that when i needed to sit down, it was right there... but .... i did it!! i pulled weeds for 3.5 hours...i am sure i will be sore tomorrow but it felt wonderful to be gardening again...

have a wonderful weekend everyone...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
