I Dont Usually Complain But.....

Recommended Posts

Ok so far I have not complained about hardly anything but this week has been so rough. It almost seems like I don't know my body at all anymore. I am almost 4 months post-op and so far I've lost 41 pounds. (Total of 62 since January) The weight loss has slowed down and I'm not doing much differently so I can't figure out how to boost it. My TOM is so irregular and has never been before. I've never had a Constipation issue EVER and now it seems to happen pretty frequently. I track everything on MFP and stay under 1000, 60-80g Protein and I work out 4-5 times a week. Any insight anyone can offer me would be great. IDK if its my TOM effecting me or what but I'm feeling kinda "blue"

Are you keeping measurements? If you're working out, I bet that your body is changing even if the scale isn't. I'm amazed by how much I can lose in my thighs, for example, while my waist and scale stay the same.

Don't mean to be rude but what is your age? If you are in your 40's or 50's maybe you are entering menopause which could be affecting your TOM????

At four months out I would probably schedule a visit with your female doctor to check on your hormones. You are too young for menopause, but you could be having an issue with endometriosis or something else or your hormones may be a bit out of whack.

Constipation really can be an issue too. I'm suffering that pretty bad at 6 weeks out only and I was doing so great pre-surgery. I started back on metamucil and can't get down more than a tbs. of Milk of Magnesia without wanting to hurl.

I think the weight loss is great but it seems like you are doing all the right things and maybe it's a weird stall or maybe your hormones are messed up a bit.

Best of luck to you.

I take 6 capsules of psyllium husk Fiber every night. It helps with the regularity and is great for bringing down cholesterol. I agree, MOM is gross. I was sooooo constipated at first. I found that putting the MOM in the fridge and drinking it as cold as possible helped. Once I got passed that horrible phase, I leveled out with a comfortable daily deposit thanks to the psyllium. PS. I got the psyllium at BJs.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
